Swiss Life Asset Managers has partnered with Westwind Capital to acquire a portfolio of more than 1,400 student housing beds in Madrid, Valencia and Granada. Announced on 5 October 2026, the investment advances the manager’s European value-add living strategy through collaboration with sector specialists and local partners.
The portfolio comprises purpose-built student accommodation across three major Spanish university cities. Vibe Stay, a specialist student housing operator, will continue to operate the properties.
Expanding the European value-add platform
The acquisition forms part of Swiss Life Asset Managers’ broader strategy to expand its European value-add platform through partnerships and co-investments with leading local and sector specialists.
The partnership with Westwind Capital supports this approach, increasing the manager’s exposure to alternative living assets in Europe.
A long-term conviction in the living sector
Florian Bauer, Head Real Estate Project Development & Co-Head Value Add at Swiss Life Asset Managers, said:
“This investment and our partnership with Westwind Capital reflect our strong conviction in the long-term fundamentals of the living sector and our commitment to working with leading investment specialists.”
Bauer added that the investment would increase Swiss Life Asset Managers’ exposure to what he described as Europe’s fast-growing alternative living segment.
